this picture is possibly the bullring or gerrard gardens. this is an example of council flats put up when the slums were cleared.

im thinking i might get me camera out the next time im in liverpool?? take some photos of stuff before it goes...

these warehouses on stanley dock are amazing buildings and are going to be done up and will incorporate homes, shops, bars etc...this is what should be happening in liverpool rather than making a carbon copy of some other city
this is one of my favourite buildings in liverpool and its been this way for as long as i can remember....i passed it the other week (its very close to the new building stuff) and the facade is still there..horay

something that ive found strange as ive got older about the buildings around liverpool that ive known is that once knocked down you can still see them/feel them/remember them...you can still imagine where people used to walk upstairs and sit etc....this must be very odd for much older people who mustnt recognise and awful lot..

regarding the video links iv put on above... the only relevant one is the first one (black and white) as i couldnt work out how to get rid of the others!!! v frustrating!!
the video shows what im trying to say...the pulling down of old and mostly sound buildings to fit in with some architects plan for a corner of liverpool...i'd like to know who theyre doing this for personally and i feel like someone is getting very rich off the back of making the town centre bitty and bland..my brother disagrees and thinks that its good to change and develop but what theyre proposing for the waterfront.."a manhattan skyline" is just silly..it feels like someone is trying to make liverpool something its not..
i think that the money being spent on the high and shiny buildings that hardly any local people will be able to afford to live in (if they wanted to..) would be better spent on local communities, making existing housing better and filling in the big holes left by earlier "development" (scotland road..)
anyhoo, rant over for now....being fair loads of old buildings have been done up and we need to continue with this..
